STEVE LAKIN
Biography
When I look back on my life, I see the fingerprints and goodness of God. I was raised by parents who loved the Lord, who taught me His Word, and were examples of faithfulness. At the age of 7, I accepted Christ as my Savior on Mother's Day. I always felt God’s call on my life to share His Word and was given opportunities to do so in my early adult years. I was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1979. The first people I was privileged to minister to each week was a group of precious senior saints at an assisted living facility. When I was 30 years old, I was ordained as a minister of the gospel at my home church, North Knoxville Baptist, and called to be pastor of Walridge Baptist Church. God has graciously given me two more churches to pastor since then.
My wife, Terri, has been the love of my life for 48 years. We are blessed with two children, Jon (wife Brooke) and Jessica (husband Jeff) and 5 grandchildren. Time and time again, we have marveled at the love and faithfulness of our Father as He has guided and guarded our lives through many trials.
My heart’s desire as I retire from my church of 21 years is to preach the truth of God’s inerrant Word and to give direction and care to churches who are in the process of finding a pastor. I believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect Son of God who died to pay for our sins, and the only way to the Father is belief in the atoning sacrifice of His Son. I affirm the statements of the Baptist Faith and Message.
